why Chinese

As the most-widely spoken language in the world and third most-widely spoken in the United States, Mandarin Chinese is a sensible choice for parents when considering a second language for their child. A second language helps your children be more flexible and creative, and reach high levels of cognitive development at an earlier age compared to their monolingual peers. Research shows that critical period of human language acquisition and development is between the ages of zero to five. Younger children have superior capacity to develop native pronunciation in a new language, and are better equipped to develop advanced levels of proficiencies in one or more languages.  Early year literacy development contributes to human intellectual development as a whole.

"Chinese is one of the world's most important languages.  Our students must learn and understand the language, in a cultural context, in order to succeed in today's global economy."

Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education

"A child under the age of three who is exposed to two languages usually experiences simultaneous acquisition."

U.S. Department of Education

“Language acquisition for children is best when they are young because they are not influenced or threatened by fears of not succeeding. Their thinking is fresh and they can more readily absorb new languages.”

Tina Huang, Former Director, The Brownstone School
